SEND Event Volunteer

About this opportunity

Children With Voices supports children and families in Hackney through community programmes, SEND provision, school partnerships, food support and community events.

Our SEND events, delivered in partnership with WeAMTV, create inclusive spaces where children with SEND and their families can enjoy play, creativity and connection.

SEND Event Volunteers help families feel welcomed and supported on the day. This is a great way to try volunteering with us through a single event, with no ongoing commitment.

What you’ll be doing

Welcome and registration

• Greet families as they arrive.
• Help with sign in and registration.
• Show families around the space and help them feel comfortable.

Activity support

• Help run activity stations during the event.
• Support children to take part at their own pace.
• Follow guidance from the event lead and activity team.

Quiet space and wellbeing support

• Help children who may need a calmer moment.
• Support a safe, friendly and inclusive environment.
• Report any concerns to the event lead straight away.

Set up and pack away

• Help prepare the venue before families arrive.
• Support practical event tasks during the day.
• Help leave the venue tidy at the end of the event.

What you’ll bring

• A caring, patient and inclusive approach.
• A friendly, calm manner with children and parents.
• Good teamwork and a willingness to help where needed.
• Reliability and commitment to the full event shift.
• An interest in supporting children with SEND and their families.
• Experience with children or young people with SEND is welcome but not essential.
