Without our volunteer drivers, the Community Food Hub simply could not run.
Food donations, supplies and resources need to move, and you will help make that happen by collecting from partners and suppliers and delivering to the Hub.
This is a practical and independent role at the heart of our supply chain. The impact you make is felt during every session.
What you’ll be doing
- Collect food donations, supplies and resources from partner organisations.
- Deliver collections to the Community Food Hub at Fawcett Estate.
- Communicate clearly with the Food Hub team about schedules and changes.
- Handle food safely and responsibly during transit.
- Keep simple records of what was collected, from where and when.
- Report concerns or collection issues promptly.
- Keep the collection vehicle clean and roadworthy.
What you’ll bring
Essential
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
- Confidence and experience as a safe driver.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- The ability to lift and carry food boxes and bags safely.
- Clear communication with the Hub team and partner organisations.
- Basic awareness of food hygiene during transit.
Helpful but not essential
- Experience driving a van or larger vehicle.
- Previous delivery or volunteer-driving experience.
- Knowledge of Hackney and surrounding areas.
- Understanding of community food logistics.
Our food supply depends on dependable collections. This role requires care, punctuality and pride in supporting Hackney families.
