What This Role Supports

Creating Inclusive Spaces for Children and Families

SEND volunteers help Children With Voices support children and young people with additional needs through inclusive activities, calm environments and positive encouragement.

This role helps children take part at their own pace, feel welcomed, and build confidence while families receive practical and compassionate support from the wider community.

Welcoming children, young people and families into SEND-friendly sessions.
Supporting creative, sensory, communication or confidence-building activities.
Helping staff keep sessions calm, organised and accessible.
Offering patient encouragement while respecting each child’s pace and communication style.
Working alongside staff, families and other volunteers during SEND activities.

Flexible Support Around SEND Sessions

SEND volunteering can usually be arranged around scheduled sessions, workshops or programme activities. The level of support needed may vary depending on the activity, children attending and family needs.

Volunteers supporting SEND activities may be asked to complete an induction and follow Children With Voices’ safeguarding, confidentiality and accessibility guidance.
